Constituents

Inspired by the challenge of balancing multiple components, both visually and literally, these earrings were an exploration of stability and challenge the idea of what it means to be too much.
 
Hand fabricated from sterling silver, 23K gold leaf and 14K yellow gold, Constituents was anintentional experiment in composition and finding the balance between multiple coloured andtextured metals.
 
The process began with pouring ingots after which each component was made by hand. Theforms and textures were created using a variety of techniques including depletion guilding, reticulation, fusing, hot forming and Keum-Boo.
